Since the Maisel SudParis is government agreed, you might get housing subsidies in order to reduce your housing fee ; these subsidies are credited by the organism CAF (for Caisse d’Allocations Familiales). The amount of the subsidies depends on your personal incomes and situation.

Maisel buildings are classified according to construction rules which define the type of housing subsidies associated to each building : ALS or APL.

  • ALS subsidy concerns buildings U1 to U4 (Housing « MAISEL 1 »)
ALS is directly credited to your bank account.

The amount of the ALS is roughly € 84 or € 110 for french scholarship holders (effective january 2017, see Housing rates).

  • APL subsidy concerns buildings U5, U6 & U7 (Housing « MAISEL 2 », « MAISEL 3 » and « MAISEL 4 » respectively)
APL is credited to the Maisel and deduced from your housing fee.

For U5, the amount of the APL is roughly € 206 or € 254 for french scholarship holders (effective january 2018, see Housing rates).
For U6 and U7 studios, the corresponding APL amounts are detailed in our Housing rates.

ALS and APL payments are credited monthly, subsidies are always calculated from the next month following your CAF application but are credited at least 2 month later.
Note that if you check out sooner than the 23rd of a month, CAF shall not pay the subsidy for the last month of your stay since in this case, you will be charged less than the full monthly housing fee. (see Housing fees)

Please note that you are responsible for the full payment of your housing fees, whatever you might not get housing subsidies or in case of delayed subsidy payments due to CAF process which is sole french government responsibility ; plan your housing budget accordingly.

Procedure to follow for foreign students

Housing subsidies are calculated from the date of your CAF application that must be done by filling a form on the CAF website.

Please note that CAF process takes time (expect an average delay of 2 month); we advise you to set your CAF file during the first month of your arrival, even if you do not possess all the required documents (you will provide them later).

Do not attempt to apply for housing subsidies on the CAF website prior to your arrival at the Maisel !
since your CAF application will be wrong without the specific information we will give to you when in the Maisel.

You will have to provide the following documents :

Non EEC students :

  • Copy of your enrollment certification
  • Copy of a social security registration certificate (if any) or given by your school
  • Your french Bank account details in the form of a RIB (Relevé d’Identité Bancaire)
  • Copy of the certificate of scholarship for concerned students.
  • Copy of your passport and of your resident permit OR of your passport with an OFFI stamp

Notice : Having a resident permit or an OFFI stamp on your passport is mendatory to get ALS or APL. Resident permits are delivered only for students who leave in france for more than 3 months.

If you do not possess your resident permit or OFFI stamp when you arrive at the MAISEL, do not wait to get it to apply for CAF but set your file in order to be registred sooner, you will provide your resident permit or OFFI stamp later.

For OFFI stamped passport holders, the housing subsidy is credited as soon as CAF gets the copy of the OFFI stamped passport and starts from the date of the CAF application form.

For resident permit holders, the housing subsidy will be credited from the date mentioned on the resident permit and will be effective on the following month.
